Local Elections in May 2023 - Have you thought about becoming a Parish Councillor?

In May 2023 there will be an election (or re-election) for all seats on Edith Weston Parish Council. Have you ever thought about becoming a parish councillor?

The role of parish councillor involves helping the local community on certain issues that might affect or be of interest to residents of the village such as planning decisions and our environment. Of particular interest, of course, is the future of St George’s barracks.

To be eligible to stand you need to be at least 18 years of age, a British, Commonwealth, Irish or EU citizen and either be on the register of electors for the parish or have lived within 3 miles of the parish boundary for the last year. The parish council meets on the last Monday of each month at 7.15 pm, and councillors can become involved in various aspects of the work of the council. The time commitment is around 1-2 hours a week.

If you think this is something that might interest you, please come along to the next parish council meeting on 27th February in the Village Hall or contact the parish clerk – ewpcclerk@gmail.com.
